I got Norovirus.
I win. Okay, I didn't have it the whole time. But just when I thought I was going to get back on the old blogging bandwagon again, BAM! Like the creature from the Black Lagoon, it came out of nowhere on Tuesday. The bad thing about this thing is that it feels like your stomach is going to leap straight out of your body, so bad are the spasms. The good part is that it usually leaves within 24 hours. Hits hard, leaves quick, they say. Well, okay, I say. but it sounds good, right? Anyway, I'll spare you the details, but suffice it to say that there was a lot of praying to the porcelain god going on, let me tell you. Or is it driving the porcelain bus? Not sure which one I like better, to be honest.
If there's one thing that Norovirus lacks, it's PR. Every nasty bug could benefit from a good PR campaign, telling us all how it's not so bad. For example, it could be: "Norovirus--the natural way to lose weight fast!" Seriously, I lost 7 pounds in one day. Most of it was water loss (I was severely dehydrated), but still, not bad, eh? In fact, for a blissful moment, the scale was my friend! And then I had to scramble back to the bathroom.
Anyway, it's taken me until today to feel normal again, which is too long in my books. The worst part is that we all got it, including Theo. Not a lot of fun. The good part is that he got it the mildest of all of us, so although we were concerned for a while, it passed quickly. What a trooper.
On top of all that, it's the end of the semester, which is the real reason that I haven't put anything up in quite a while. Several major projects were due, and we had a steady stream of visitors for a few weeks, so that pretty much took up all my blogging time. Turns out, though, that my parents are HUGE fans of Settlers of Catan, which, in my opinion, is the best game ever. We played a lot of it, and it got sort of heated at times, but cooler heads prevailed.
With all the time that's passed between posts, I don't know what to tell you that would even be remotely interesting. Had quite the cold snap, that's for certain. The car stopped working on about day 4, as it was resolutely frozen solid. Lovely. Looking forward to more of that when we come back in January. Today, though, it's a completely different story. Mild, high of 10 degrees on the plus side of zero. We could even take Theo out for a walk again, which we were just way too scared to do before. Yeah, we got a little cabin fever, but it's better than frostbite, in my opinion anyway.
As I said, my parents came for a lovely visit, minus the near bloodshed over the board game. Worked on school stuff--that project I was talking about in my last posting ended up being the full 18 pages, even after edits. Don't have my mark yet, though. My sermon went well, but was a little bit weird. I thought I preached well, but afterwards, I got ripped apart by the class and the prof. Then I got my grade back, and I got an A. Not sure how that's congruent, but I'm not complaining. One more project to go; had to get an extension because, well, we got Norovirus and all. I'm hoping to finish tonight and hand it in tomorrow.
And then? Then we go home! Hooray! We're hoping to drive out of here on Sunday and get back on Monday, staying a night at my grandma's in Kamloops, which is actually a very convenient stopping point (about 8-1/2 hours away, given good weather). That's probably all Theo will be able to handle, and it give Great Grandma some time with the boy, so again, we won't complain.
Later. Just worked on that darn last project for a while, and I think I'm done. Didn't take as long as I had thought it would, but it ended up at 10 pages, so woo-hoo! In terms of blogging, I just read over this posting again, and realized that I'm pretty rusty at this whole witty banter thing that I try to do. It surprises me how much this is really a matter of being in practice. I'm also having major problems typing this evening, and I'm having to correct pretty much every second word. Frustrating.
Anyway. I was looking through the photo area of my computer, trying to see if I could somehow appease the wrath of the neglected bloggers by giving you something interesting to look at. You know what? I've got nothing. Not only did we not leave the house for about a week, we also didn't take any pictures. Mind you, what can we take pictures of in the house? Oh yeah, besides the inside of the windows?

Here's another interesting one I took a while ago and had intended to put up here. This is the nutritional facts label off the back of a beverage we bought recently...

Okay, now I want a glass of water. Be right back.
Ah. Refreshing. And no trans fat, either.
Okay, I think I'm done again for another night. I'm going to be very honest with you all now and tell you that I'm not going to get another post up here until we get back home, so don't expect anything until next Tuesday at the earliest. Okay? I know, I'm teasing you. But I'll be more regular over the holidays, I promise. I guess it won't be Three Hills misadventures, but consider it the road show. See you all then, and hey, thanks for stopping by.
